Fun With Shakespeare Group Workshop
A two hour workshop for home educated children age 5 - 14 years old exploring Shakespeare.
Perfect for those who haven't 'done' any Shakespeare and those who have, these workshops explore the play through games and fun activities.
The session with include:
- a run-about True or False game introducing Shakespeare, his world and his plays
- an simple, funny activity to learn a short line from the play
- an active game to learn the characters and their roles in the play
- a 'Whoosh' where we walk through the play and act it out (with simple dressing up!)
- a selection of different creative activities including making Top Trump cards
The workshop will only work if parents join in and help out; I've found this really works well, both in terms of helping the children engage and parents being able to add things outside of sessions if they choose to.
If you want to know which boxes you can tick, this workshop covers a combination of English literature, drama and history with a bit of physical exercise and art. It won't involve any writing (unless you want to) and children will have opportunities to 'act' different parts in the play.
All workshops are run by me, Victoria Beech. I am experienced at doing workshops with children (I've been doing work like this for over 30 years!) and I've run a mixed-age Shakespeare group for six years. I have valid documents for working with children for my work at Birmingham Children's Hospital, but in these workshops your children are your responsibility.
If you have under 5s, please make sure you can look after them as well as joining in and helping your other children when necessary.
